How do I make an appointment?

What should I bring to my appointment?

Referral (from GP or specialist/s), Medicare card, Health fund card, Pension or Healthcare card and workers compensation details (if Applicable).

How long will my appointment take?

Appointment times can vary from 15-45mins. This does not include any delays. We advise you to call our rooms prior to your appointment to check if the doctor is running on time.

How much will a consultation cost?

Each surgeon consulting through Surgery Central sets their fees independently. Initial consultation fees can be up to $250, and follow-up consultation fees can be up to $150. All fees are payable at the time of your consultation.

If it has been over 12 months since your last visit or you are coming for a new problem the cost is the same as a initial consultation. Pensioners and Health Care Card Holders may be charged at a discounted rate dependent on the surgeon you are booked to see.

Medicare rebates are available and can be completed in the rooms while you are here. Health fund rebates are only available for in-hospital services.

What do I do in the lead up to surgery?

Ensure you have booked in to the hospital as well as prepared for your surgery.

How do I find out details about the day of surgery?

Preparing for surgery: The hospital will phone you the working day prior to your surgery and inform you of what time to be at the hospital, when to start fasting (stop eating or drinking) and any other special instructions. If you have any questions regarding your admission time or fasting you will need to phone the hospital you are going to for your procedure. This can be found on your hospital admission paperwork and procedure summary information given to you from our rooms.

Should I stop my medications prior to surgery?

Instructions regarding your medications around the time of surgery should have been given to you at your consultation. If you are unsure about your instructions or have any concerns, please call our rooms and ask to speak with the nurse on (02) 4947 8177 to discuss your medications.

How much will my surgery cost?
